Qualifications

Anyone who's met us knows we're pretty proud nerds. We pack a mean scientific punch, have a ton of experience to draw on and we've also developed an eagle eye for pests. We once had a bed bug get loose in our house (long story) and found it within 20 minutes of searching. 


Among our staff we are proud to combine:

  • Structural, Mosquito/Biting Fly, Aquatic Vegetation, Forestry & Landscape Ontario pesticide licenses with 15 years experience  
  • B.Sc. Environmental Biology with specialization in pesticide development  
  • Communications, Ecosystem Management and Urban Forestry diplomas  
  • Quality control experience auditing other pest management technicians
  • ISA certified arborist and tree risk assessor with experience teaching arboriculture at the college level
  • Licensed trapper with 30 years experience  
  • Members: Structural Pest Management Association of Ontario, National Pest Management Association, Canadian Pest Management Association, Haliburton Highlands  Chamber of Commerce, Algonquin Gateway Business Association  
  • College instructor - Forest Entomology & Pathology, Tree Sciences & Practices, Woody Plant Propagation, Human & Wildlife Ecology, Tree Health Management  
  • Experienced beekeepers able to rescue honeybee colonies
  • Equipment operation with safety certifications - chainsaw, brush saw, chipper, loader, etc plus first aid  
  • Field technician comfortable handling common and endangered reptiles, amphibians and birds
  • Experience caring for livestock including cattle, pigs, birds, large mammals, reptiles and horses used for sustainable forestry uses
  • Knowledge of native trees and ornamental plantings, comfortable growing from seed, planting and maintaining
  • 15 years experience logging/sustainable tree harvesting 
  • Food safety certification ensuring safe treatments in commercial or residential kitchens
