Career Opportunity - Pest Management Professional

We are hiring 2 full-time technicians who will extend a high level of service and professionalism, and take pride in maintaining our positive image.


This position will begin in March with part-time training as you study for your licence test. Full-time work begins as the weather allows, usually in March/April. This position currently runs from March/April to December/January with the possibility of extension through the winter. The contract would pick back up in the spring of 2022. We are growing rapidly and if we can keep team members on through winter, we will. We also encourage students to apply and will work around school schedules for the right candidate. 


Salary: $15-20/hr based on previous experience, plus health benefits


Qualifications:

  • Willing and able to achieve 75% or greater on Ontario Pesticide licence tests (Core and Structural)
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license with clean driving & criminal record 
  •  Capable of lifting and carrying 50 lbs
  •  Must be comfortable working in summer heat, confined spaces, at heights and with insects, arachnids and wildlife
  •  Problem solving, attention to detail, customer service and communication skills
  •  Able to work independently and as part of a team
  •  Construction knowledge or previous pest control experience are definite assets, as is familiarity with insect and track identification


As an essential service provider, we are grateful to be able to offer employment in the event of repeated lockdowns and the successful candidates can expect regular full-time hours. PPE, including nitrile gloves and P100 masks, are part of our daily gear and will be supplied, however if you are not comfortable traveling to homes and cottages, we understand and ask that you consider waiting to apply until COVID concerns are reduced. A typical day will involve driving to cottages in/around Haliburton Country and implementing pest management solutions while making suggestions under integrated pest management. Once trained, you may be working on your own or helping on large jobs with 1-2 other people. 


We hold ourselves to high standards and believe in having fun while providing professional services and a safe working environment. Please be advised that beards compromise the seal of a respirator and therefore are not permitted in our industry. Contact lenses cannot be worn while applying pesticides.
